Children's petrol quad bikes for smaller and bigger riders

Children's petrol quad bikes offer plenty of fun and an authentic riding experience with a combustion engine. You can choose from a range of sizes and power options – from smaller quad bikes for beginners to larger, more powerful models for children who already have riding experience.

A petrol quad bike for children can be a great step from their first experiences of motorised riding towards handling more powerful vehicles. However, it is important to choose a model suited not only to the child's age, but above all to their height, weight and experience.

How to choose a children's petrol quad bike

When choosing a petrol quad bike for children, you should not base your decision solely on engine capacity or power. The quad bike's overall dimensions, seat height, wheel size, weight and handling are all very important.

A more compact quad bike with an appropriate level of power will generally suit smaller riders and beginners. Bigger or more experienced children can gradually move on to a larger, more powerful model.

For individual quad bikes, we also recommend checking the brake type, suspension, starting method and options for adjusting speed or power, where the model has these features.

A petrol quad bike for a beginner

For a first quad bike, the main priorities are easy handling and power suited to the child's abilities. A beginner needs to develop a feel for the throttle, brakes and steering, and gradually build good riding habits.

A model with the option to limit maximum speed or power can be an advantage. This allows a parent to adjust the settings to suit the child's experience and gradually change them as their skills improve.

A petrol or electric quad bike for children?

When buying, you may be deciding between children's petrol and electric quad bikes. Petrol models offer the distinctive sound and riding characteristics of a combustion engine and are popular with riders who want a traditional motorised riding experience.

Electric quad bikes, on the other hand, are quiet, easy to operate and do not require fuel handling. The final choice therefore depends on the child's experience, the intended use and the parents' preferences.

Safety when riding a children's quad bike

A children's petrol quad bike should be accompanied by appropriate protective equipment. The basics are a suitable motorcycle helmet, sturdy footwear and, depending on the type of riding, gloves and body protection.

The child should ride under adult supervision and in an area suitable for the type of vehicle. Before the first ride, it is also important to become familiar with the controls and the manufacturer's instructions for the particular quad bike.
