Fuel systems for pit bikes, mini motocross bikes and quad bikes

A properly functioning fuel system delivers fuel from the tank to the engine and has a major impact on how the engine starts and runs. If any part is clogged, leaking or not working correctly, this can lead to poor starting, uneven running or an insufficient fuel supply.

In this category, you will find replacement fuel system parts for pit bikes, mini motocross bikes, minibikes, quad bikes and other petrol-powered vehicles. The range includes over 250 items and is divided into carburettors, fuel hoses, taps, filters, tanks and other related components.

Carburettors for pit bikes and quad bikes

Carburettors make up the largest part of the range. Their job is to prepare a suitable mixture of fuel and air for an internal combustion engine. When choosing a carburettor, engine capacity alone is not enough to go by. The carburettor's type, diameter, mounting method, choke operation, throttle cable connection and other design specifications are all important.

How do you choose the right carburettor?

If you are replacing the original carburettor on a pit bike, mini motocross bike or quad bike, the safest approach is to start with its identification markings and dimensions.

Two engines with the same capacity do not necessarily use the same carburettor. Before ordering, compare the carburettor type and identification markings, connection diameters, mounting hole spacing or mounting method, choke design and throttle cable connection in particular.

After replacement, the carburettor may also need to be adjusted correctly for the particular engine.

Fuel hoses

A fuel hose carries petrol between the tank, tap, filter and carburettor. Although it is a simple part, damage or leaks can cause fuel supply problems and also pose a safety risk.

When choosing a hose, pay particular attention to its internal and external diameter, material and suitability for the fuel being used. The hose must not be kinked, cracked or routed where it could be damaged by hot or moving parts of the vehicle.

Fuel filters

A fuel filter helps trap contaminants before they reach the carburettor. A clogged filter, however, can restrict fuel flow, so its condition should be checked regularly during maintenance.

When fitting the filter, observe the correct flow direction if specified by the filter manufacturer, and check all connections for leaks.

Fuel taps

A fuel tap allows you to shut off or regulate the fuel supply from the tank. Fuel taps have their own subsection within this category, alongside other fuel system components.

When replacing a tap, check the thread or mounting method, the hose outlet size and the overall design. Taps that look similar are not necessarily interchangeable.

Fuel tanks and caps

If the original tank is damaged, or you are building or restoring a vehicle, you may also need a fuel tank or tank accessories. The current range includes a separate fuel tank subcategory, and you will also find products such as CNC fuel tank caps in several colours.

When choosing a tank, its dimensions, mounting points, fuel outlet position and compatibility with the frame and other parts of the particular vehicle are important.

Clips and other small fuel system parts

Even small components matter in a fuel system. Fuel hose clips help secure the connection between the hose and the tap, filter or carburettor.

After any work on the fuel system, we therefore recommend checking the entire system from the tank to the carburettor and making sure there are no petrol leaks.

When the engine is hard to start or runs unevenly

Problems with starting or engine running do not necessarily mean the carburettor is faulty. Possible causes include a clogged fuel filter, restricted fuel flow, a leaking hose, dirt in the carburettor or incorrect adjustment.

However, faults in the ignition system, intake or another part of the engine can cause similar symptoms. Before ordering a replacement part, it is therefore advisable to identify the actual cause of the problem first.
